Just when I thought my life was back to normal …
I’m spending this week serving on a jury in a criminal case. Attorneys generally don’t like for other attorneys (even former ones) to be on their jury, but in this case, neither side booted me.
So, it’s been an interesting turn of unplanned events.
That said, we’ll keep this intro short. I did find a bunch of interesting stuff to share in my spare time, including a piece about a song that is supposed to put you to sleep, guaranteed.
- “Weightless” is sometimes referred to as “the most relaxing song in the world,” and many scientists agree with that claim. A new study even found that the jam reduced the overall anxiety of female listeners by 65 percent.
I tend to listen to white noise and ocean waves to go to sleep, and it generally works pretty well. But I’m always open to trying something new — especially since it’s free on Spotify.
- So, next time you’re trying to drift off to sleep, close your eyes and press play on “Weightless.” The song has over 8.7 million plays on Spotify, so fans must be onto something.
Back to the jury box for me. Hope your week is going well!

Go Deep
“Deep tallies” are a procedure for documenting how much deep work you actually accomplish, and the embarrassment of a small tally motivates a more intense commitment to finding time to focus. “Deep scheduling” allows you to block off and protect sufficient time to get deep work done.

Create or Die
Sure, creativity is something worth cultivating for its own sake, but the side effects are also pretty great. And a study published earlier this week in the Journal of Creative Behavior added another perk to the list: The more creative you are, it seems, the less concerned you are about death.
